Course Description:

Gain a thorough understanding of the foreclosure landscape and learn how to assist homeowners and clients in navigating the complexities of distressed properties. This course will cover the foreclosure process, alternative solutions, and legal and ethical considerations, while also shedding light on scams and assistance programs aimed at supporting struggling homeowners.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completing this course, participants will:

  1. Understand the three types of foreclosures.
  2. Describe the foreclosure process in detail.
  3. Differentiate between lender foreclosure and association foreclosure.
  4. Distinguish between lender foreclosure and tax foreclosure.
  5. Understand how distressed property sales impact credit.
  6. Explain the processes and benefits of short sales and deed-in-lieu transactions as alternatives to foreclosure.
  7. Understand the Mortgage Debt Relief Act and its implications.
  8. Recognize common foreclosure rescue scams and educate homeowners on avoiding fraudulent practices.
  9. Explore federal and state assistance programs aimed at mitigating foreclosures and supporting distressed homeowners.
  10. Identify legal and ethical considerations when dealing with foreclosure cases and protecting homeowner rights.

Brian Woods
Brian Woods is a seasoned real estate broker, investor, property manager, community association manager, real estate instructor and speaker. He owns and operates multiple real estate brokerages, a community association management firm and a real estate school. In 2013, Brian was awarded the Mid-Size Broker of the Year Award from the REALTORS Association of the Palm Beaches.  He is passionate about international real estate, working with foreign nationals, and investors and believes that education is the key to everything. Brian is a NAR Certified International Properties Specialist (CIPS) instructor and has been featured in the NAR Global Perspectives publication.
